Year 2 (Class Teachers – Mrs Nixon & Mrs Proctor)
Learning Goal: Autumn 2017
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce the Year 2 team. Mrs Nixon will teach the class on Mondays, Tuesdays, and on a Wednesday morning will be taking small groups from the class to extend and support their learning. Ms Proctor will teach the class on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Our Learning support assistants are Mrs Sanchez and Ms Manlow.
We had an exciting trip to he London Eye and a cruise on the River Thames, this will link with our term’s topic called ‘ London- stepping back in time’. During the first few weeks of the term we will be concentrating on what London is like now, we will then focus more on the history of London including learning about the Great Fire of London and Guy Fawkes. In past years, these trips and the study of the topic has created lots of excitement and enthusiasm for learning. The children will continue to have daily Maths and English lessons, as shown on the attached topic web.
Homework will be given out on Fridays to be returned on Wednesdays, in line with school policy. Homework may include research, spellings, problem solving, reinforcement of skills taught in class and practical projects.
Guided reading will begin next week; the children will receive a new reading record book, please can you write down the name of the book they are reading and make a comment about their reading.
PE days are Mondays and Fridays. No earrings or jewellery should be worn and children need a full PE kit in school every day, including plimsolls or trainers. Please can you make sure everything is labelled with their names.
We would like every child to have a water bottle with them in school in order to stay hydrated during the day. Please can you ensure this is labelled with their name.
Thank you in advance for your on-going support.
