Year 6 Jet (Class Teacher – Mr Kendall)
Year 6 Onyx (Class Teacher – Mrs Sunda)
Learning Goal: Autumn 2017
The children have made a fantastic start to Year 6 already; we hope this interest and enthusiasm will continue for the whole year and we are confident that it will be an exciting and challenging year for everyone.
Here are some of the routines we will follow during the year:
Homework – this will normally be given out on Fridays and will be due back the following Wednesday. All pupils will have a homework diary where they can log any homework tasks and spellings given by the teachers. Please ensure that you assist your child in submitting homework on time, to the best of their ability and to a good standard of presentation.
School equipment – children should have a suitable bag in which to carry homework and reading books. It is most helpful if each child has their own pencil case, with pens, pencils, rulers and colouring pencils. Your child will be required to write in pen most of the time, so it is essential that s/he has a rollerball or fountain pen that suits his/her style of writing. Please ensure that your child has a labelled PE kit in school every day.
Our main topic this term is a study of World War II. If you have any relevant artefacts or experiences that you would like to share with the class about WWII, please let us know. The topic web overleaf gives detailed information about the work we will be covering in all the subject areas but some of these topics will also be combined. Please feel free to add your own comments/ideas relating to the topic.
We are available before and after school each day if there are any issues you wish to discuss. If the issue is likely to take a little longer to discuss, then please drop in to make an appointment. Alternatively, you can contact us via email.
If you have the opportunity, please take your child to the library to choose books to read around the topics mentioned overleaf. The support that you give to your child is invaluable as it gives them more confidence and knowledge to use back in school.
